Five Days of Fragrance - Chanel No5

Day Five - Chanel No 5

Aptly for Day Five, this is Chanel No 5 and I have deliberately left this until last because it's been a favourite of mine for a long time.  It always reminds me of my mum because she has worn it since I was little.

I don't use it as an everyday perfume, generally for special occasions, the fragrance is quite strong and lasts along time so it's important not to slather it on, it had a tendency to get stuck in your throat if you use too much.

For me, Chanel equals glamour and while every day isn't a always a glamour day I think I will always have some on my dressing table.

Five Days of Fragrance - Hugo Boss Deep Red

Day Four - Hugo Boss Deep Red

I'll be honest, this isn't usually my kind of perfume as it's quite musky and I prefer sharper flowery smells but I adore this.  It was a present from my husband ages ago (he bought me a big bottle then another smaller bottle - pictured).  As it's a bit heavier I prefer to wear it in the evening, you don't need to use very much as I think it could be quite overpowering but the scent lasts for ages.   It's got base notes of Vanilla, Musk and Sandalwood in it, I've mentioned before that I'm a bit Vanilla mad so that probably explains why I like this so much.

The best price for this at the moment is www.fragrancedirect.co.uk where you can get a 90ml bottle for £29.99 which is a total bargain, there are also a couple of nice gift sets as well, one with a body lotion which I think I've tried, I'm sure it was lovely as well.

Five Days of Fragrance - Thierry Mugler Angel

Day Three - Angel by Thierry Mugler

I asked for this for my birthday a couple of years ago, and was lucky enough to receive not only the perfume but also a gorgeous Angel Gift Set consisting of a perfumed body oil spray, shower gel and a hand cream, thus my day was complete.  Since then I've used up all the perfume and am now on my second one but the other products have lasted (I've been sparing!), I particularly like the body oil spray, it's great for summer as it's moisturising and smells lovely without being too heavy, sometimes I find that perfumes don't last all that well in the heat.

The scent itself is fairly sharp with what I would describe as fruit tones but there's also definitely vanilla in there somewhere which is probably why I liked it in the first place, I love anything vanilla flavoured or scented.  The bottle is lovely too and great to carry round in my handbag because it's not too bulky or heavy

A 50ml bottle from House of Fraser, or John Lewis is around £65.00, anything less than that is really good value.  At the present time the Gift Sets are about £50.00, possibly less than they would be normally as it's just after Christmas maybe?  Definitely worth a look and could make a lovely gift.

Five Days of Fragrance - Marc Jacobs Daisy Dream Forever

Day Two - Daisy Dream Forever by Marc Jacobs

This is my most recently purchased perfume, bought for my by my husband when we were out one day and I happened to say I liked the smell.  Truth is, I was drawn to the bottle before I was drawn to the smell, that's the power of packaging.  I just think it's such a pretty bottle and can be displayed so beautifully on a dressing table.  The blue colour is also my favourite shade of blue, you can see where I'm going here!  Word of warning though, the bottle is quite heavy, don't pick it up by the top because the top comes off and the bottle goes hurtling toward the floor (and your toes), I've done this several times and it's only because it landed on carpet that I didn't lose the entire bottle.

The scent is floral, sharper than Poeme, and fresher and it is also very light, it's a summery smell though I've been wearing it since the Autumn.  I've just realised I've actually used up quite a lot, I must really slather it on, still perfume is made to be worn and enjoyed I guess.

Pricewise this one is similar to Poeme, about £59.00 for 50ml.  I'm very keen to try the other Marc Jacobs fragrances, if anyone has tried them and can recommend I'd love to know what you think.

Five Days of Fragrance - Poeme by Lancome

Day One - Poeme by Lancôme

I first started wearing this in 1998, originally my sister wore it and I loved it so much that she got me some for Christmas and I've been hooked ever since.  The scent is flowery but subtle, it doesn't get up your nose or stick in your throat, it's sort of a warm smell.  It's also beautifully long lasting.  I had a gift set once which alongside the perfume had a travel body cream and a shower gel and it was gorgeous, I didn't want to use it up.  It's a great one to layer, shower gel, cream and then perfume, the scent lasts all day.  The gift set is always on my birthday and Christmas lists!

It comes in two sizes 30ml and 50ml.  The larger bottle is around £59.00 from stores such as House of Fraser and John Lewis, however I am sure I have purchased it at a much reduced price from perfume or cosmetic websites.

Nivea Daily Essentials Eye Makeup Remover

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...
I've been meaning to review this eye makeup remover for a while now, because I am seriously impressed with it.  Originally I bought it because I started wearing a waterproof eyeliner that did not come off with any of my usual nightly skincare products, then I spied this which I thought would work because it is for waterproof mascara.

I've had a variety of Nivea products over the years and I've always been happy with them.  One thing I like about Nivea is that despite having fairly dry skin I am able to use their products that say they are "for all skin types" because they seem to be very gentle.  Nivea do have a range for dry and sensitive skin which is also very good (it's completely fragrance free).

This make up remover is hypoallergenic and has been tested by the eye doctors, thus is fine for people who wear contact lenses or who have sensitive eyes.  As you can see from the photo it is oil based so you need to give the bottle a good shake before you use it to mix up the liquid.  Then just get one of those little make up remover pads, pour a little bit on there (a little bit goes a long way) and gently wipe over the eye lid and round the eye.  I am always amazed at how much make up comes off with one of these, even when I've cleansed already, this really does get rid of whatever's left.  It's really nice to go to bed knowing that my eyes are "clean".

I use this product every day, it's about £3.50 from Boots or Superdrug, or actually I've seen it in the supermarket as well.  It's super value too,  as it lasts for ages.

The Best of the Rest of the Amazing No7 Calendar

Happy New Year Everybody!  This post is a "best of the rest", basically following on from the posts I was writing before Christmas about my No7 advent calendar.  I'd intended to do a post every three days but as I predicted there was just too much going on so blogging had to take a back seat.  However, I'm back now and thought I'd start the year by reviewing a few of my favourites from the calendar, ones that I hadn't shown you before, (not in any particular order).

No7 Glitter Nail Polish

I love this sparkly nail polish.  One coat is pretty, two coats is amazing, I wore it on Christmas Day. It lasted for quite a few days too.  Trying to get it off was a bit of a nightmare because the glitter sticks and it took quite a lot of polish remover to get it off the entire nail but I didn't mind that.  I'm thinking that it might also look quite pretty as a top coat over another colour.

No7 High Shine Lip Crayon

I'm not usually into these crayon type lippies but I really have used this one quite a lot considering I haven't had it for very long.  The colour is what I would call mid-pink and I can only describe it as a balm in crayon form.  It's got a twisty container so you can push it up when it starts to run out, I've been using on weekends for a bit of natural colour and I've been popping it in my pocket to top up regularly, it gives a really lovely shine.  I probably would repurchase this actually, either this colour or a different one as they are a great on the go addition to anyone's make up collection.  I've got a Boots voucher so I can feel some spending coming on!

No7 Stay Perfect Eye Shadow

I'm totally addicted to No7 eye shadow, in fact before Christmas I got this amazing nude palette which I've been meaning to show you, (I think I'll pop a photo on my Facebook page) and I literally didn't use anything else for weeks.  This eye shadow is from the No7 Moonlight Shadow trio and is a gorgeous nude which blends really well either underneath as a base colour or over the top to tone down a darker eye.  I was really pleased as it goes very well with the aforementioned palette.  I think the picture makes it look a bit dark, it's actually much more subtle than that when it's on your eyelid.

No7 Youthful Eye Serum

I'm a big fan of the No7 serum range, it's non sticky, hypoallergenic and does seem to do what it says it's going to do.  This one is a small tube (7ml) of their Youthful Eye Serum which isn't an eye cream, it's the serum that goes on before applying eye cream or this can be used by itself.  You just dot it around your eyes with your ring finger and let it sink in.  I like it because it's really cooling and is therefore great for early mornings and helps to reduce puffiness before putting make up on.  It doesn't fill in any lines but it does make the skin feel much smoother therefore making concealer much easier to apply.  I had a cold over Christmas and my eyes were sore and itchy so I couldn't wear a lot of eye make up, I found this serum really helped to calm the eye area and soothe the skin.  It also didn't irritate my eyes either  so I can vouch that it is indeed, hypoallergenic!

No7 Stay Perfect Amazing Eyes Pencil

Lastly (but not least by any means) is this gorgeous eye pencil.  I am a real eye pencil girl, I love them so I was very pleased to receive not one, but two throughout December courtesy of the calendar.  This one is a beautiful deep brown, perfect for under and upper lid lining.  The tip is soft like a crayon so doesn't drag across your eye but is also easy to blend if you want to use a little brush over the top to create a softer look.  It's hypoallergenic (yay!) and waterproof, it does really last all day.  I haven't checked to see what other colours there are in this range (apart from the lighter brown one also included in the calendar) but I can see that it would be worth having a couple of different colours to ring the changes a bit.  It's just occurred to me that this pencil is very like a Ruby & Millie one I had years ago (except that was blue/black) which I loved before Ruby & Millie discontinued themselves.  I must see if I can find that one in my drawer, I'm sure it's somewhere.

All in all it's got to be said that I was super impressed with the No7 calendar and would recommend it, I didn't receive anything in it that I won't use and there were many things in it that I would repurchase. Roll on December for the next one (kidding, I've only just recovered from this Christmas!)
